Slow Down

Reducing your speed, you should reduce your speed by at least 10 mph under the speed limit, if you don’t feel comfortable, reduce it some more.

Beware Of Black Ice

Avoid Tailgating

Leave at least 100 yards (the length of a football pitch) this is your cushion between you and the car ahead, just in case they brake suddenly.

Don’t Brake Hard

Avoid going into a spin, don’t brake hard, gradually turn into corners and gently squeeze on the brakes, you can also use your gears to reduce speed.

Does Everything Work OK?

Tires and brakes should be in good working order, also check windscreen wipers and make sure headlights are always clean.
