FTA helps industry deliver the goods this winter

The Freight Transport Association (FTA) is advising to everyone involved in moving vehicles to take precautions to protect themselves from the possible problems the weather may cause.

Keep up to date with weather warnings via the FTA

FTA has a suite of products and services designed to ensure the operators and drivers are safe and able to continue delivering the goods that everyone needs. The Association works with the national highway authorities and the Met Office to communicate vital weather information whilst providing a traffic information service operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to keep members up to date with any vital amber or red weather alerts as soon as they are issued.

The FTA website contains advice for everyone on dealing with poor weather conditions. With traffic alerts for every region of the UK, Met Office weather alerts and safety advice for operators and drivers.

Malcolm Bingham, FTA’s Head of Road Network Management Policy, said:

“Over recent years the Met Office has become more focused on the effects of severe weather and all road users need to take note of the warnings that are issued. The freight and logistics industry is reliable and makes arrangements to cope when hit with severe weather conditions, but FTA can provide additional information, support and equipment to help them keep moving throughout the winter months.”
