Rules and Regulations for Passenger Transfer in France Part 2 – CPC Training

Ridgeway Training is always trying its hardest to keep customers up to date on all regulations directly affecting them, providing CPC Training to members of the industry with the vision of helping them to be compliant and provide a better customer experience.

The Ski Transfer industry is a very busy sector, so it’s a logical conclusion that the French Authorities decided to concentrate on this sector’s compliance. On a recent visit to Switzerland then a transfer to Morzine we noticed three operators operating outside of the law, the Gendarmerie is efficient and knowledgeable so expect to be checked over at any time of the year. We know the Chalet Host Course has been pushing this area of compliance to all it’s customers but more exposure of this vital area is essential.

Most of the EU works along a common route, France decided it would make its own interpretation of the most common “line in the sand” of Passenger Operator Licence regulations. In the UK we have to work on a Passenger Carrying Vehicle being 8 Passenger Seats and above, but in France this is set at 8 seats in total i.e. including the Driver. A small percentage of Transfer Companies have acted proactively undertaken CPC Training, gained their Manager CPC and set up a compliant Operator Licence.

Further clarification on the term “The condition of business premises”

Business premises: these are the business premises located at the compny head office, OR if the company does not have its head office in France, the premises of the principal business establishment in France where the principal company documents are kept (accounts, staff management, data relating to driving and rest time for drivers, etc). Once the authorisation has been agreed, it highlights whether the company has one or several vehicles. The company must also be managed efficiently and permanently and have the necessary administrative facilities and relevant technical equipment.
